I missed me…this crazy house has consumed all of my time, energy, emotion, creativity, everything! Just when I thought I could sit here and twiddle my fingers across the keyboard, my mind would shut down, I’d give a blank stare, crickets would chirp. I tried to write, I tried to be witty, I even tried to make cupcakes (because cupcakes solve everything)! I perused the vast Land of Internets, I spent oodles of time in the Kingdom of Pinterest. All the pretty pictures in the world seemed incapable of inspiring me to put words on the screen. I was certain that my writing days were over. Until…
Have you ever had a friend who seemed to make order out of chaos, who could turn a glum day into one filled with sunshine (and cupcakes)? A friend who, if given the chance, would fly down to wherever you were just to help you snap out of a rut and show you how to find that creative spark (that was hiding under the baskets of laundry, just behind the fabric softener that should probably be replaced because a certain Sweetie Pie thought that you needed to fill the entire dispenser with it instead of measuring out the proper amount)? Fortunately for me, she didn’t need to spend all her hard earned pennies on a flight, but she did make a map that led to my spark. My only choice was to follow it. So, I picked up my gloomy arse, put on my boots (because who doesn’t wear boots when going on a journey?), and grabbed the umbrella. I headed out the door with my map in one hand, the umbrella in the other, and a heart filled with promise.
My house is still for sale (for now…I see a buyer on the horizon), but I don’t have to let that stop me from getting back into the swing of things. Did you know that by having this house on the market, my rooms have never been tidier? My kitchen has never sparkled so much. My tub, the laundry, the dust bunnies…all have gleamed, been laundered, been corralled (although the dust bunnies have protested their new habitat). All of this has contributed to my absence. It will now become inspiration for my return, because who couldn’t use a few good tips on moving with 3 minions, a Lusty Woodsman, and a moose? Not to mention an entire collection of books and jars that will fill an entire 16 ft. shipping container all by themselves…ahem.
